The contractor has a foot crew and a Bobcat skid-steer loader to assist with the necessary vegetation removal for the trail widening. The contractor is now also requesting to use a mini excavator in order to help smooth bumpier parts of the trail as well for gabion wall construction. The mini excavator is 68" wide, comparable in size to the Bobcat. We had previously specified in my letter to you that only one piece of equipment would be used on the project. He has agreed to, if granted permission, only using one piece of equipment on the trail at a time (either the Bobcat or the mini excavator but not both). Is USFWS okay with this concession and allowing the additional piece of equipment as long as only one is in active use on the trail at any given time? Thank you!
