MINUTES OF THE PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

JANUARY 26, 2023
Consistent with State Assembly Bill 361, members of the Parks and Recreation
Commission were present and members of the public were encouraged to participate
and address the Parks and Recreation Commission during the public comment portion
of the meeting either in person or via teleconference.
CALL TO ORDER:
Chair/Quan called the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Salo led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL: Commissioners Stephen Qiu, Aaron Salo, Vice-Chair
Andrew Wong and Chair Cynthia Quan
Absent: Commissioner Isaic Ramirez was excused.
Staff present In-Person: Ryan Wright, Parks and Recreation Director; Christy
Murphey, Recreation Superintendent; Jason Williams, Maintenance Supervisor; Daniel
Garcia, Recreation Specialist; and Robin Crawford, Administrative Coordinator.
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None Offered
CALENDAR OF EVENTS: PRD/Wright
1. CONSENT CALENDAR:
1.1 Approval of Minutes for the September 22, 2022 Regular Meeting:
VC/Wong moved, C/Qui seconded to approve the Regular Meeting
Minutes of September 22, 2022. Motion carried by the following Roll Call
vote:
AYES: COMMISSIONERS: Qiu, VC/Wong, Chair/Quan
NOES: COMMISSIONERS: None
ABSTAIN: COMMISSIONERS: Salo
ABSENT: COMMISSIONERS: Ramirez

5. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
C/Salo asked for a progress update on the Canyon Loop Trail and PRD/Wright
responded that the project is winding down with the majority of the work
scheduled to be completed in the next couple of weeks depending on the
weather, with the shade structures likely being added in September.
Chair/Quan said she was proud to be a citizen of Diamond Bar. Staff does an
excellent job of reaching out to multiple ages with diverse activities, many of
which she has attended including the awesome Veterans Day Celebration which
appears to be a well-kept secret. The classes for all age groups are wonderful
and the maintenance team keeps the parks in excellent repair.
ADJOURNMENT: With no one objecting and no further business before the Parks and
Recreation Commission, Chair/Quan adjourned the meeting at 6:51 p.m.to March 23,
2023.
