Mulch Giveaway and Free Paper Shredding Event
A self-serve mulch area and on-site mobile paper shredding unit will be available to
Diamond Bar residents on Saturday, December 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until mulch
supply runs out and shredding truck reaches capacity.
Organized by the City in collaboration with Waste Management, both these free services
are open only to residents, and require proof of a Diamond Bar address such a California
ID, utility bill, or bank statement.
Mulch Giveaway
The mulch area is self-serve which means individuals must bring their own shovels
and containers, and come prepared to collect their own mulch and load it onto their
vehicle. There is a limit of 80 gallons per household.
Paper shredding
Residents may bring up to two banker boxes, or two 13-gallon trash bags, full of
sensitive or confidential documents and have them shredded on site while they
wait. Documents must not be in binders or sheet protectors, or fastened with rubber
bands or binder clips. Staples and paperclips are OK.
The AQMD parking lot is located at 21865 Copley Drive. Registration is not required, and
the event will be held, rain or shine.

Canyon Loop Trail improvement Project Update
The trail project is approximately 50% complete and continues to project completion by
the end of January 2023. The contractor has completed trail grading and began placement
of V-shaped cobble stone swales to decrease future erosion and trail deterioration. The
first row of gabion baskets have been filled with stones to serve as retaining walls and
timber steps with hand rails will soon be installed to provide for additional trail safety. Staff
continues to work closely with the Kizh Nation Native American Monitor, on-site biologists,
US Fish and Wildlife Service, and CA Department of Fish and Wildlife to ensure the
success of the project.

December 13, 2022 Planning Commission Meeting
By a 4-0-1 vote, the Planning Commission approved the site and architectural plans for a
custom home at 1111 N. Diamond Bar Boulevard. Prior proposals to develop the property
date back to 2013, and were either withdrawn or disapproved. In 2020, plans for a 4,300
square-foot, two-story residence was rejected due to its size and modern architectural
style that was deemed incompatible with the homes in the area. The new proposal is also
for a two-story house, but is reduced in size to 2,750 square feet, with a traditional,
Craftsman-influenced architectural design that fits the character of its surroundings.
