Box 942896 • Sacramento, CA 94296-0001 HCF STATUS REPORT – CAPITAL OUTLAY Acquisition, Enhancement, Restoration, or Development Projects To monitor project progress, OGALS will send status reports to the grantee every six months. The grantee must complete the reports, obtain their authorized representative’s signature, and return all status reports to OGALS within thirty days from receipt. This requirement continues until OGALS receives a grant completion packet. Payment requests will not be processed if status reports are overdue. Grantee: City of Diamond Bar Project Number: HT-19-021 Habitat Conservation Fund, Trails Project Name: Canyon Loop Trail Development Advanced funds documentation (attach a Grant Expenditure Form documenting expenditure of any balance): N/A If a portion of the advanced funds have not been spent, and more than six months have passed since the grantee received the advanced funds, the balance must be spent on eligible costs or returned to OGALS within 60 days from receipt of this form. Briefly describe completed work funded by the grant: (Attach additional pages if needed) 1) Pre-Construction/Pre-Acquisition (planning, CEQA, etc): _City Public Works and Recreation staff presented the award of contract during the October 4, 2022 City Council meeting. All CEQA related documents including the Initial Study and Mitigated negative Declaration are available on the Canyon Loop Project website at https://www.diamondbarca.gov/962/Canyon- Loop-Trail-Improvement-Project. 2) Acquisition/Construction (provide photos and discuss work accomplished to date) _The Canyon Loop Trail improvement project is approximately 80% complete. The contractor has completed trail grading and began placement of V-shaped cobble stone swales to decrease future erosion and trail deterioration. The first row of gabion baskets have been filled with stones to serve as retaining walls and timber steps with hand rails will soon be installed to provide for additional trail safety. Staff continues to work closely with the Kizh Nation Native American Monitor, on-site biologists, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and CA Department of Fish and Wildlife to ensure the success of the project. 3) Potential Obstacles Affecting Completion Weather continues to impact construction. However, staff and the contractor are working expeditiously to ensure project completion as soon as possible with the trail tentatively scheduled to be open to the public in the coming months.
