In short, since the contractor is moving slower than expected by about one week, we must have the Native American Monitor on site for that duration. (Funding exists for that.) In addition, the project biologist must be on site full when the Native American Monitor is on site. Based on the previous scope of work, this Friday, November 11 should have been the end of ground disturbance and a full-time biologist. After walking the site today, we believe the end of ground disturbance is probably Friday, November 18. Therefore, MBI has provided the attached change order request. Please note they scoped three additional weeks just to be safe, yet highly unlikely. The more likely outcome is one more week which would result in roughly 1/3 of the proposal. (3 proposed weeks =$20,150 compared to 1 week at roughly $6,700). In my opinion, this change order will cost around $6,700. As a reminder we have $101,000 approved for the project contingency. The Kizh Nation Monitor was an approved change order and I expect to spend around $15,000 of that contract. This new change order would extend us to about $21,700. We are also about to provide the contractor a deductive change order for the removal of the shade structures in the amount of approximately $67,000. Please let me know if you are comfortable with this PO Change Order request ASAP.
