As an ally and supporter of the Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL), the SGVCOG is focused on increasing broadband access and deleting the digital divide in the San Gabriel Valley. In July, the SGVCOG completed a broadband priorities survey of the 31 cities. The SGVCOG cities are eager to address broadband inequities and increase services for all residents but are understaffed and unsure of how to begin developing new and enhanced broadband services. To support these cities’ diverse needs, th e SGVCOG is focused on developing a regional strategic plan that will help assess, plan, budget, and construct future broadband infrastructure projects, maximize public broadband assets and facilities for community use, and increase digital literacy and outreach activities to achieve digital equity in one of the most diverse regions in the state. Given the scope and scale of digital inequity in the San Gabriel Valley region, the City of Diamond Bar urges the CPUC to approve and fund the SGVCOG’s LATA Grant application, and provide favorable consideration to this request. Please do not hesitate to contact the SGVCOG’s Manager of Sustainability and Natural Resources, Nicholas Ryu at ncryu@sgvcog.org if you have any questions. Sincerely, Dan Fox, City Manager cc: City Council Ryan McLean, Assistant City Manager Ken Desforges, Information Systems Director
