HomeMy WebLinkAboutFW_ Diamond Bar Districting.msgGood morning Mayor and Council Members, Please see the email below in support of map #123322. Thank you, Kristina Santana | City Clerk City of Diamond Bar | City Manager Division 909.839.7010 From: Adrienne Cotterell <adrienne.l.cotterell@gmail.com> Sent: Monday, April 11, 2022 11:41 PM To: Kristina Santana <KSantana@DiamondBarCA.Gov>; Kristina Santana <KSantana@DiamondBarCA.Gov> Cc: Ryan McLean <RMcLean@DiamondBarCA.Gov> Subject: Diamond Bar Districting CAUTION: This message originated outside of our City of Diamond Bar network. Please provide this email to all the members of the Diamond Bar City Council, and to the consultants working on Diamond Bar districting. I have also copied Ryan Mclean on this email. My name is Adrienne Cotterell and I am a 31 year resident of Diamond Bar. The change to district voting is a significant one and I am taking the process seriously. I submitted a Community of Interest Survey as well as a Community of Interest map. I have reviewed all the district maps submitted thus far, and I would like to state to you my preference for Map 123322. I think this map is better than the one that I submitted and is a very good solution to our need to establish districts. It creates districts that are balanced population-wise, well within the acceptable variance allowed by law. I also like how it divides"the middle" of Diamond Bar, with the intersection of Grand and Diamond Bar Blvd as a pivot point around which two districts are centered. I would also like to ask that the consultants generate data layers that show the household income of the census blocs, so that districts can be characterized by household income stated as the mean and median for each, as well as a frequency distribution for each. This information will allow the Council to understand the true economic diversity of Diamond Bar, inform those running for office, and assure that Districts are drawn in a manner that allows representation for differing community needs. Thank you very much. This process is important and I appreciate the time, energy, resources and care expended by staff and the Council on behalf of the residents of Diamond Bar.
