Low Mayor Andrew Chou Mayor Pro Tem Stan Liu Council Member Nancy A. Lyons Council Member Steve Tye Council Member April 4, 2022 The Honorable Senator Dianne Feinstein United States Senate 331 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Senator Feinstein: As Mayor for the City of Diamond Bar, I would greatly appreciate your consideration to support the City’s Congressionally Directed Spending Request for the future Sunset Crossing Park. The City of Diamond Bar has a tremendous unmet need for park space. As an example, the Sunset Crossing neighborhood has 0 park acres per 1,000 residents making it a park disadvantaged neighborhood. The future park at Sunset Crossing would transform a vacant lot into a neighborhood park with a tot lot, basketball c ourt, pickleball courts, picnic tables, par course for exercising, and be a multigenerational park for persons of all ages and mobility types. The park project is adjacent to highly congested freeways, and would provide residents with expanded opportunities to exercise and mitigate the impacts of traffic and the associated environmental concerns. The City has been working with Federal and State partners to secure appropriations for this vital project, and if funding is secured, this will provide for a Federal and State leverage opportunity and create local employment. Any consideration and support of the City’s Congressionally Directed Spending Request is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions about the project, please contact City Manager Dan Fox at 909.839.7010 or by email to dfox@diamondbarca.gov. Very truly yours, Ruth Low, Mayor CC: City Council City Manager
