HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE_ DB Village Public Relations.msgHi Raymond, Yes, we have started working on a fact sheet with some Q&As for staff so that they can prepare for any calls that come in tomorrow onward. This is just the initial piece. We know there will be more questions to provide answers to in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for the resources. Greg shared the LACDA resource for Section 8 participants. These are the questions we did not include in the attached Q&A document: OTHER Q. How will I get my mail? 1. In-person mail pick up is available at the post office; you will need photo identification such as your driver’s license or state-issued identification card. Other options for mail service include having the post office hold your mail, and submitting a temporary forward order to a PO Box or to another address. Requests for either a mail hold or change of address can be processed either in person at the post office or online at https://www.usps.com/globals/site-index.htm under the "Receive Mail & Packages" category. Q. Can the City provide me legal assistance? 1. The City cannot provide legal advice to private individuals. The services of a licensed attorney at should be consulted for any legal questions or concerns. The State Bar of California maintains a directory of Certified Lawyer Referral Services that are managed by a variety of associations, legal service programs, and other organizations. The directory is available by visiting www.calbar.ca.gov/lrs<http://www.calbar.ca.gov/lrs>, calling (866) 44-CA-LAW (866-442-2529), or emailing Q. Is there any financial assistance to help me with renting a new place? 1. If you have renter’s insurance, be sure to review your policy. Most policies cover additional living expenses if your home is uninhabitable for a number of reasons. *Ask if they are a Section 8 participant – If they answer yes, suggest that they contact the Los Angeles County Development Authority at (626) 262-4511 to obtain a list of available rentals that match their rent range. Thank you also for letting us know the HOA will be sharing questions it has received that are meant for the City to answer. It’s going to be important to specify which entity/individual will be addressing which questions/concerns – City, HOA, landlord. At the end of the attached Q&A we created a “who to call” reference that we need to expand on. Greg, Raymond: Please review what we have so far and make any changes you see fit or suggest additional questions we should include. We would like to send something to staff before the end of today. I am planning to tag the homes upon approval from the City Attorney’s office. I am also attending a virtual town hall for the HOA Monday at 1 pm. I’m sure the question of “What is the city going to do for me?” is going to come up. I started to look at some resources that may be helpful. I don’t know if your group has started putting stuff together in case questions arise. I believe the HOA is also going to forward me questions they’ve been asked thus far which I’ll share later. Here are the resources I found. As per 01 July 2020: Per Chapter 22.34.0340.(g) of the Diamond Bar Code of Ordinances, Parking, loading, storage, driveway and vehicle maneuvering areas shall be kept and maintained so as not to detract from the appearance of adjacent properties and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the user, occupant, and general public. Areas shall be kept in a neat and clean condition, free of trash, debris or rubbish, and free of potholes, sinkholes, standing water, cracks and/or broken areas. Parking space and pavement striping and signs shall be repainted, refurbished and/or replaced when they become faded, damaged, or destroyed to an extent that they are no longer effective. Parking areas shall be periodically resurfaced or sealed to minimize seepage of water into the ground below. The attached are pictures of the parking lot at the condominium complex, Village at Diamond Bar located at 23653 Golden Springs Dr., Diamond Bar, CA 91765. As the pictures clearly show, multiple areas of the driveway and parking areas are not maintained whatsoever. There are many elderly and children that walk and play in the premises and is an urgent safety hazard. Not only is this a safety hazard, but there are also debris and rubbish throughout. The asphalt is so deteriorated that the ground is exposed as well. The parking areas have clearly not been maintained and have not been resurfaced or sealed in a long time. This is is also an environmental hazard, which would cause groundwater seepage below the surface causing damage and hazard to neighboring properties as the deterioration is in very close proximity. As a concerned resident of Diamond Bar, I would like the city to do their due diligence and investigate what is being done to remedy this clear violation, and please follow up with me with solid action.
