HomeMy WebLinkAboutDiamond Bar Village tenant request for extra time to completely move out.msgCAUTION: This message originated outside of our City of Diamond Bar network. Hello Mr. Tao, My name is Kerri Hunter. I have been a tenant at Diamond Bar Village Unit K14 for the past 10-11 years. I would have moved earlier, but was under the impression from my landlord that the repairs were forthcoming. In addition, there were marked improvements once Yvette Allen became the Property Manager. Unfortunately as a tenant (not homeowner), I was unaware of the 2017 Structural Engineering report nor lack of HOA funds for the necessary repairs. I am writing you to request additional time to vacate. I secured a self storage unit and P.O. Box on Friday October 1st after the tags went up. Unfortunately, I am a single parent of a 7 year old with special needs so all packing and moving falls on me. I am moving COMPLETELY out but may not make the October 18th deadline. I have even informed friends that I am giving away large furniture items for free if any are interested and can pick up the item(s) by October 16th. My employer, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, has given me a 30 Day Leave of Absence so that I can focus on vacating. I will worry about housing after I vacate. In addition, since my landlord won't be able to rent the unit to anyone else I suggested that she be contacted to see if she would be willing to volunteer her unit as one of the structural testing sites. It's on the Southeast corner of the K Building, near the laundry room & mailboxes, and already has open holes (see attached photos) apparently from John Wayne Construction's structural engineering assessment. One caveat, there are popcorn ceilings which I believe are usually indicative of asbestos. In conclusion, please consider my request for additional time to completely move out. Sincerely, Kerri Hunter 626-222-9376
