Dear Diamond Bar Council,
I am writing to you today to appeal the “red tag” notice that I received on September 30, 2021,
informing me to evacuate my home in the Village of Diamond Bar by October 18, 2021.
This notice was a complete surprise to me. I was never advised or given any type of early
warning that this would happen. It completely caught me off-guard.
It is true that an engineering inspection was performed at the complex approximately three
weeks ago, and the results were shared with both the HOA and the City of Diamond Bar.
However, the official City Engineer failed to verify that all of the information on the report was
true and accurate. In fact, the report merely provided a “general overview and determination” of
the damage, with a recommendation that the ENTIRE complex should be “red and yellow
tagged.”
As you can imagine, this abrupt order has put undue hardship on me, both emotional and
financial. Not only do I not have anywhere to go, I currently work from home M-F, 8 hours a day
due to the existing Covid-19 pandemic. My home has been my “total office” for the past 18
months, ever since this pandemic started.
For me, losing my home would also mean losing my job.
I implore you to please lift the “red tag” evacuation notice on my unit until homeowners are able
to obtain all the facts regarding the condition of my building — and not just a “blanket overview”
of the entire complex.
Thank you in advance for your fair consideration in this urgent matter.
Respectfully,
Robert Rosal
