HomeMy WebLinkAboutProcedure for Obtaining Copies of Building Plans CITY OF DIAMOND BAR BUILDING & SAFETY DIVISION 21810 Copley Drive Diamond Bar, CA 91765 (909) 839-7020 PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING COPIES OF BUILDING PLANS Approval must be obtained from both the property owner and the licensed professional (architect, engineer, etc.) Before copies of building plans can be made. The following are the steps the applicant must follow in order to obtain copies. 1. Property owner must fill out the AUTHORIZATION TO DUPLICATE PLANS (PROPERTY OWNER). 2. The Licensed Professional must fill out the AUTHORIZATION TO DUPLICATE PLANS LICENSED PROFESSIONAL. 3. If plans were drawn by an unlicensed person ( designer, previous owner, etc), then please provide us with AUTHORIZATION TO DUPLICATE PLANS PROPERTY OWNER) ONLY. 4. Complete the RECORDS REQUEST FORM and submit along with the required authorization to duplicate forms. Fees must be paid in advance. * In the event that the Licensed Professional cannot be located (no longer in business, moved, etc), then a letter must be written by the applicant stating that an attempt was made to contact him/her. 5. Submit the signed forms to the Community Development Department for approval by the Building Official. 6. Once your request has been approved, please allow 10 days for processing. 7. Copies must be made through a Licensed and Bonded blueprint company. AUTHORIZATION TO DUPLICATE PLANS (PROPERTY OWNER) AUTHORIZATION TO DUPLICATE OFFICIAL COPY OF PLANS I, the undersigned, do hereby request a duplicate of the official copy of plans for building or Structure located at: And do hereby declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of California that: 1. The copy of the plans for which I have applied shall be used only for the maintenance, operation and use of the building located at the address set forth in this application. 2. I acknowledge that the drawings, plans and calculations are instruments of professional service and are incomplete without the interpretation of the certified, licensed, or registered professional of record. 3. I acknowledge that subdivision (a) of Section 5536.25 of the Business and Professions Code states that a licensed architect who signs plans, specifications, reports, or documents shall not be responsible for damages caused by subsequent changes to, or use of, those plans, specification, reports or documents where the subsequent changes or uses, including changes or uses made by state or local governmental agencies, are not authorized or approved by the licensed architect who originally signed the plan, specifications, reports, or documents, provided that the architectural service rendered by the architect who signed the plans, specification, reports or documents was not also a proximate cause of the damages. 4. In consideration of the City’s approval of this application, I do hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Diamond Bar, its officers and employees from any and all claims, suits and liability which may arise due to my receipt of the copy of the official plan and any use to which my copy of the plan may be applied. The copy of the plans shall be used only for the maintenance, operation and/ or use of the building. 2. Per the provisions of subdivision (a) of Section 5536.25 of the Business and Professions Code, I shall not be held responsible for subsequent changes, which i have not authorized, to these plans, specifications, reports or documents, where the subsequent changes or uses, including changes or uses made by state or local governmental agencies are cause for damage, provided that the architectural service which I rendered, is not also proximate cause of the damage.
