Subject: Notice re termination of agreement
Councilmembers:
The purpose of this email is to inform you that I am terminating my firm's legal services agreement with the City and
that the firm wishes to withdraw as counsel as soon as the City is able to secure counsel, either by the appointment of
an interim city attorney or a permanent replacement, or within 90 days from today pursuant to our contract, whichever
is earlier.
In the meantime, John Cotti will be available to attend any council meetings between now and when you find a new city
attorney. He will also be available to assist staff as needed.
Of course, I am happy to help identify a suitable interim city attorney and to bring up to speed any interim hire and your
next city attorney. This is a good time for the city to make this transition because there really are no pressing legal
matters. I know this is sudden, but I have conflicting obligations that make it impossible for me to continue as Diamond
Bar's city attorney.
Christi and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to have served the City.
