HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/22/2021 - Minutes of Regular MeetingCITY OF DIAMOND BAR MINUTES OF THE PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION DIAMOND BAR CITY HALL WINDMILL ROOM 21810 COPLEY DRIVE, DIAMOND BAR, CA 91765 JULY 22, 2021 Chair/Salo announced that given the global COVID pandemic, tonight's meeting was being conducted via teleconference and in person, and that members of the Commission and limited staff would be participating in person. The public was encouraged to join the meeting online or by phone rather than in the Windmill Room where public seating remains limited due to distancing requirements on a first -come, first -serve basis. CALL TO ORDER: Chair/Salo called the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Plunkett led the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL: Commissioners Lia Murphy, Raphael Plunkett, Stephen Qiu (Telephonically), Vice Chair Manisha Sulakhe, Chair Aaron Salo. Staff present: Ryan Wright, Parks and Recreation Director; Christy Murphey, Recreation Superintendent (Telephonically); Jason Williams, Maintenance Supervisor (Telephonically); Debbie Gonzales, Administrative Coordinator, Robin Crawford, Administrative Assistant PUBLIC COiv1MENTS: None Offered CALENDAR OF EVENTS: PRD/Wright 1. CONSENT CALENDAR: 1.1 Approval of Minutes for the May 27, 2021 Regular Meeting: C/Plunkett moved, VC/Sulakhe seconded, to approve the Regular Meeting Minutes of May 27, 2021. Motion carried by the following Roll Call vote: AYES: COMMISSIONERS: NOES: COMMISSIONERS: ABSENT: COMMISSIONERS: 2. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: MurphyPlunkettQiu VC/Sulakhe, Chair/Salo None None 2.1 MAY 2021 RECREATION PROGRAM UPDATE - RS/Murphey 2.2 MAY 2021 MAINTENANCE REPORT— MS/Williams C/Qiu noticed that the trail running downslope at Summitridge Park near Summitridge Drive has no flat surface to cross over a V-ditch to access the trail from the stairs. C/Qui asked if there were plans to install a JULY 22, 2021 PAGE 2 P&R COMMISSION crossing. MS/Williams explained that was the only way to cross the hardpan trail and there are no plans to design a bridge. The trail was formed by residents continuing to use it and staff maintains the trail in its current condition. 3: OLD BUSINESS: None 4. NEW BUSINESS: None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS: C/Plunkett attended a meeting with the Diamond Bar Women's Club and shared information about current Parks and Recreation programs. She also attended the City's Wednesday Walkers at Pantera Park and truly appreciated the walk led by Recreation Coordinator Monique Weeks. It was a great opportunity to talk with other residents while exercising. C/Plunkett thanked the staff for all their hard work. VC/Sulakhe thanked staff for their continued efforts during these trying times. Chair/Salo also thanked staff for their continued efforts managing the Commission meetings during these trying times. ADJOURNMENT: With no one objecting and no further business before the Parks and Recreation Commission, Chair/Salo adjourned the meeting at 6:49 p.m. to September 23rd, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. The foregoing minutes are hereby approved this � 3 day of Gu.J , 2021.
