RE: OPPOSITION TO SB 9
Dear Senator Atkins:
The City of Diamond Bar respectfully continues to be opposed to SB 9, which would
essentially end single-family residential zoning in every community in California.
The City of Diamond Bar is committed to supporting legislation that provides
flexibility for cities to exercise local land-use authority to develop unique solutions
to address the housing crisis. However, SB 9 would erode single-family zoning and
irreparably damage local control by usurping a city’s local land-use authority.
Additionally, the lack of accountability measures will impede the ability for cities
to provide essential public services to new and existing residents.
For these reasons, the City hereby signs onto the joint letter by San Gabriel Valley
Council of Governments (SGVCOG) cities to the California Legislature in
opposition to SB 9.
Sincerely,
Nancy Lyons
