This project will enable the more than two million California residents living and working in our thirty-one /31\ incorporated cities and many unincorporated communities toachieve greenhouse gas reductions. This will be accomplished through coordinated planning and implementation efforts made possible bythis grant that are tailored to the needs and opportunities of each unique jurisdiction. The San Gabriel Valley prides itself on its diverse and balanced fabric of cultures, residential neighborhoods, local businesses, and industry where there is nota "one size fits all" approach to addressing any issue, but rather e history of collaboration to identifying solutions that can be achieved and replicated. Participating in the Climate Showcase Communities program will allow the SGVCOG to demonstrate how a region committed to local control can develop a flexible strategy that builds capacity, leverages our collective size, and is responsive to the needs of each community. In addition to modeling regional collaboration, the proposed program will yet an example for how local governments can be both proactive and cost effective in responding to state and federal greenhouse gas legislation, such as AB 32 in the State of On behalf of the City of Diamond Bar, I encourage the Environmental Protection Agency to recognize the opportunity presented by this proposal and evvond funding under the Climate Showcase Communities Grant.
