RE: Request for Veto - SB 620 (Bradford) Firearms Enhancements (as
enrolled)
Dear Governor Brown:
As a Council Member for the City of Diamond, I am alarmed with the
precedent that SB 620 (Bradford) sets by reducing enhancements for crimes
involving firearms.
Existing law requires that a person who personally uses a firearm to commit
certain specified felonies to be punished by an additional and consecutive
term of imprisonment. SB 620 would delete the prohibition and allow a court to
strike or dismiss an enhancement otherwise required by current law.
Therefore, I request you exercise your discretion to veto SB 620.
I thank you for your willingness to work with municipalities to make our
communities safer, and your consideration of the SB 620 veto request.
TX-
Ruth
