CITY COUNCIL \ ;A" _ AGENDA REPORT
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
VIA: . Linda C. Lowry, City Manager
TITLE: I Community/Senior Center Change Order Options
THIS IS A DRAFT OUTLINING THE POSSIBLE CHANGE ORDER ITEMS TO THE
COMMUNITYISENIOR CENTER PROJECT — A FINAL REPORT WILL BE DRAFTED BEFORE
THE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council discuss the change order options to reduce the price of the
construction of the community/senior center and authorize staff to proceed with items 1-14 below.
Discussion:
City staff, the architect and the construction company have been reviewing numerous items for
possible elimination from the project as well as revising the specifications to realize cost savings.
Some of the items have been eliminated from discussion because the cost savings were insignificant
or not worth the net effect on the facility because of the impact to the aesthetics of the building or
impacts to maintenance costs.
The recommended items below (1-14) result in a cost savings of approximately $400,000 with very
little, if any, impact to the quality of the facility. A few of the items still require the architect to receive
samples of the materials prior to his approval. The review of these sample materials should be
complete before Wednesday night.
