MINUTES OF THE PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Finnerty called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The audience was led in the Pledge of Allegiance by Commissioner Jeff Hull.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Chairman Annette Finnerty, Vice Chairman Patty Anis and
Commissioners Hull, St. Amant and Torres.
Staff: Bob Rose, Director of Community Services; Gary Olivas, Recreation
Superintendent, Marsha Roa, Community Services Assistant, Don
Hensley, Parks and Maintenance Superintendent, and Marisa
Somenzi, Administrative Secretary.
MATTERS FROM THE AUDIENCE: None Offered.
1. CONSENT CALENDAR:
C/St. Amant moved, C/Hull seconded, to approve the Consent Calendar as presented.
Motion carried by the following Roll Call vote:

Chair/Finnerty
NOES: COMMISSIONERS: None
ABSENT: COMMISSIONERS: None
1.1 Approved Minutes of December 21, 2000 Regular Meeting - As corrected.

RS/Olivas reported on the following items:

2.2 Trails Master Plan Update -Report by CSD/Rose
2.3 Diamond Bar Community Foundation Update - Report by Chair/Finnerty.
3. OLD BUSINESS:
3.1 Park Maintenance Report - Report by PMS/Hensley on City park visits and
mitigation measures. TruGreen Landcare employees Eddie Lewis, Branch Manager,
Alfred Luna, New Operations Manager in Diamond Bar and Greg Andrews were
present.
Sycamore Canyon Park
CSD/Rose indicated to C/Hull that the weeds on the slope adjacent to Golden Springs
Drive require ongoing maintenance.
Greg Andrews spoke about the control of ground squirrels in the park.
CSD/Rose responded to C/Hull that several of the walkways by the bridge were
ground down by public works contractor MCE.
The following park visits were scheduled by the Commissioners:

3.2 C.P.R.S. Conference - Update by RS/Olivas on the status of registration and travel
arrangements for the 2001 C.P.R.S. Conference scheduled for V:.;unesday, March 14
through Saturday, March 17, 2001.
RS/Olivas reported that four staff members and three Commissioners will depart on
Tuesday, March 13 and return Saturday evening, March 17.
4. NEW BUSINESS: None
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS: CSD/Rose indicated to VC/Anis that the tennis rule ad hoc
committee will present its report to the Commission during the February 22 meeting. Any
resident who wishes to provide input on this matter may do so during that meeting.
C/Torres attended the field users meeting last night.
ADJOURNMENT:
C/Hull moved, C/Torres seconded, to adjourn the meeting. There being no other business to come
before the Commission, Chairman Finnerty adjourned the meeting at 7:05 p.m.
