HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 96-18RESOLUTION NO. 96-1 s A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAR AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES OFFICE OF PROCUREMENT ALL NECESSARY REQUESTS, FORMS, AND OTHER DOCUMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FEDERAL SURPLUS PROPERTY DONATION PROGRAM. A. Recitals. WHEREAS, the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949 (Public Law 152), as amended, authorizes.the General Services Administration to allocate federal surplus personal property to eligible recipient agencies; and WHEREAS, surplus personal property includes such items as handtools, machine tools, furniture, motor vehicles, communications and electronic equipment, construction equipment, X-ray machines, aircraft, small boats, hardware, office machines and supplies, textiles, and many other types and categories of movable and usable property; and WHEREAS, surplus personal property may be acquired by any public agency for use in carrying out or promoting one or more public purposes, such as conservation, economic development, education, parks and recreation, public health, and publicsafety; and WHEREAS, in order to participate in the Federal Surplus Property Donation Pr ram the City must adopt a resolution designating a representative who is authorized i nd empowered to file necessary and proper forms, certifications, and documents 1 vith the California Department of General Services Office of Procurement. B. NO'�IN, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved, ordered, and determined, as follows: 1. That participation in the Federal Surplus Property Donation Program is in the public's best interest in that the acquisition of certain surplus property will serve 96-18 the public safety and health needs of the community. 2. The City Council of the City of Diamond Bar does hereby authorize the City Manager or his designee to submit and place on file with the California Department of General Services Office of Procurement all necessary requests, forms, and other documents for the purpose of acquiring federal surplus property. 3. All legal prerequisites to the adoption of this Resolution have occurred. 4. This resolution shall take effect from and after its date of adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this J2 day of March, 1996.
