HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 96-06RESOLUTION NO. 96-06 RESOLUTION REAFFROKING AND SUPPORTING THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAR GENERAL PLAN AND URGING A VOTE AGAINST THE INITIATIVE, MEASURE "D" WHEREAS, the City of Diamond Bar appointed the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) to prepare a General Plan, with assistance of City staff and consultants; and WHEREAS, the GPAC held 15 public meetings, the purpose of which were to discuss and prepare a draft General Plan; and WHEREAS, the GPAC presented a draft General Plan to the Planning Commission for its review, modification, and recommendation; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission conducted 14 public meetings from July 11, 1994 through October 17, 1994, the purpose of which were to receive public comments, make changes where appropriate to the draft General Plan; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended a draft General Plan to the City Council and transmitted that General Plan to the City Council on October 14, 1994; and WHEREAS, the City Council conducted 17 public meetings from January 9, 1995 through July 25, 1995 at which public comments were received, modifications were made to the draft General Plan fiat had been proposed by GPAC and modified by the Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, after extensive public participation, the City council adopted the City of Diamond Bar's General Plan on July 25, 1995; and WHEREAS, the Diamond Bar General Plan evolved through 46 public meetings over a 18 -month period of time through work of GPAC, the Planning Commission, the City Council, and countless community members adopted a General Plan that provides fairness and equity to both property owners and residents within the City and which allow for a balance of growth and preservation. THEREFORE, NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Diamond Bar City Council hereby reaffirms and supports the Diamond Bar General Plan and encourages each and every resident of the community to become familiar with the contents of the General _ Plan to satisfy themselves of the General Plan's benefits and opportunities as we work together in making Diamond Bar the community we desire it to be. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS . day of January, 1996.
