RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DIAMOND BAR AUTHORIZING THE DIAMOND BAR
COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER PATROL AND THE
EXPLORERS TO DIRECT TRAFFIC
WHEREAS, pursuant to provisions of Vehicle Code Section 21100(e), the City Council
may, by resolution, authorize -iny person to regulate traffic under such circumstances as may
require traffic direction for orderly traffic flow; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department currently utilizes civilian
volunteers and Explorers to conduct neighborhood vacation checks and patrol checks and to
generally assist the Sheriffs Department, and said volunteers and Explorers perform these duties
in uniform; and
WHEREAS, said volunteers and Explorers supplement sworn deputies performing
enforcement duties;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Diamond Bar hereby authorizes the
Diamond Bar Community Volunteer Patrol and the Explorers, when in uniform and directed to
do so by the Sheriffs Department, and after completion of a training curriculum approved by the
Sheriff of the County of Los Angeles, to direct traffic within the City of Diamond Bar whenever
official traffic control devices are disabled and otherwise inoperable, at the scene of accidents
and disasters, and at other locations requiring traffic direction for orderly traffic flow.
PASSED, ADOPTED, and APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Diamond Bar,
California, this 15 day of December, 1998.
