A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAI
TO SUPPORT ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTION (ACR) NO. 2
RELATIVE TO THE WILLIAM H. LANCASTER MEMORIAL FREEWAY
WHEREAS, William H. ("Bill") Lancaster was born in Bakersfield and
public schools in Sacramento and Southern California;
WHEREAS, Bill Lancaster was elected to the Duarte City Council in 1958
reelected in 1962, serving three terms as the city's mayor;
WHEREAS, Bill Lancaster was a district representative for Congressman
Charles Wiggins from 1967 to 1972;
WHEREAS, Bill Lancaster was elected to the California Assembly in 1972here
he served on the Assembly Committee on Rules, the Assembly Committee on
Transportation and the Assembly Committee on Local Government;
WHEREAS, During his tenure on the Assembly Committee on Transportati+
Bill Lancaster fought for the extension of State Highway Route 210;
WHEREAS, Bill Lancaster retired from the Assembly in 1992;
WHEREAS, It would be a fitting tribute to the memory of Bill Lancaster for a
portion of State Highway Route 210 to be named the William H. Lancaster Memorii
Highway.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND E
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE their full support for Assembly Concurrent Resolution
2—Relative to the William H. Lancaster Memorial Freeway.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day Of December
2002. '
