A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DIAMOND BAR IDENTIFYING AND ADOPTING
GOALS FOR THE NEW DIAMOND BAR LIBRARY TO
BE CONSTRUCTED USING FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA
READING AND LITERACY IMPROVEMENT AND
PUBLIC LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION BOND OF 2000
Whereas, the City of Diamond Bar is submitting an application to the State of
California Office of Library Construction for funds to construct a new library; ai
Whereas, the new library will meet the library service needs identified by the
community; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the City Council to establish service goals for the i
library.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Diamond Bar does hereby approve and adopt the following service goals for
new Diamond Bar library:
1. Diamond Bar residents will have access to a library that has a welcom
environment and fosters civic engagement.
2. Diamond Bar Library will be a gateway to the world of information and
ideas.
3. All Diamond Bar residents will understand, appreciate, and support the
cultural diversity of the City.
4. Adults in Diamond Bar will have the high -demand, high -interest material
they want in appropriate languages and formats.
5. Children in Diamond Bar will have programs, services and materials that
stimulate their imaginations and provide a wide variety of leisure activiti s
and experiences.
6. Young adults in Diamond Bar will have a variety of programs, services and
materials that focus on their current interests and provide satisfying leisi ire
activities and experiences.
7. Elementary school students in Diamond Bar will have the information
need to support, supplement and enrich their formal education.
8. All Diamond Bar residents will receive timely and accurate answers to
their questions on a broad array of topics.
S. Diamond Bar residents will develop the skills they need to find, evaluate
and use information effectively.
10. Preschool children in Diamond Bar will develop a lifelong love of books,
reading, and learning.
11. Adults and young adults in Diamond Bar will have a wide variety of
services, programs, and materials that support lifelong learning and self-
directed personal growth and development.

certify that the foregoing Resolution passed, approved and adopted at a regular
