A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DIAMOND BAR TO SUPPORT SB 196 (KUEHL) REGIONAL VYT
ER
QUALITY CONTROL BOARDS: MUNICIPAL MEMBERS
WHEREAS, California State Senate Bill 196 (Kuehl) would clrify exi ting law
regarding the composition of the State's nine regional water qua/ y control boards
and those members appointed to represent municipal government, ond
WHEREAS, SB 196 would provide clarification that the individuall appointo to the
position "associated with a municipal government' on each board s all be a ayor or
city council member, and
WHEREAS, the importance of including mayors and city council rnemberslon such
boards is reflected on other State boards and commissions inc uding tt Costal
Commission and the regional air quality control boards, and
WHEREAS, the work of the regional water quality control boards would be enhanced
and strengthened with the appointments of mayors or city council m 9mbers,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of iamond
Bar SUPPORTS California State Senate Bill 196 (Kuehl) Regional Wate Quality
Control Boards: Municipal Members and directs the following:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Diamond Bar shall a opt the
Resolution and the City Cleric shall certify to the adoption.
SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Diamond Bar supports SB 196
(Kuehl) and asks all elected officials to support S8 196,
SECTION 3. That copies of Resolution 2003-5`0)of the City ofIDiamon� Bar be
distributed to the following individuals, agencies, and/or organizatio s:
League of California Cities
California Association of Contract Cities
Gonsalves & Son
State Senator Bob Margett
State Assemblyman Bob Pacheco
