RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAR
APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR THE CALIFORNIA
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY INTEGRATED NASTE
MANAGEMENT BOARD WASTE TIRE PLAYGROUND COVE R GRAN
For The Development and Improvement of the
Playground Surface at Starshine Park
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted Assembly
Bill 1843
(W. Brown, chapter 974, Statutes of 1989) that provides grants to public
entiti
s
involved in activities that result in reduced landfill disposal of used whole
tires
and
reduced illegal disposal or stockpiling of used whole tires; and
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has
een
delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program for tile
State,
setting up necessary procedures governing applications; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Integrated
Waste
Management Board require the applicant to certify by resolution approval
application before submission
of the
of said application to the State; and
WHEREAS, if awarded a grant, the applicant will enter into a Grant A
reement
with
the State of California for development of the project;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Diamond Bar authorizes the submittal of an application to the CaliforniaIntegra ed
Waste Management Board for the 2003/2004 Playground Cover Grani Prograrr.
The City Manager, Linda C. Lowry of the City of Diamond Bar is hereby authorized
and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Diamond Bar all necessa y
documents, including but not limited to, applications, agreements, am ndments
and payment requests necessary to secure grant funds and to implemnt and carr
out the purposes specified in the grant application.
The foregoing resolution was passed, adopted and approved by the Ci y Counc I of
the City of Diamond Bar this seventeenth day of June 2003. Effective une 17,
2003.
