A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAR
AMENDING THE CITY'S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(CDBG) PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006
TO INCLUDE $15;000 FOR THE CITY HALL
AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) DOORS PROJECT
WHEREAS, on August 22, 1974, the President of the United States signed into law
the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (Act); and
WHEREAS, the primary goals of, Title 1 of the Act are the development of viable
urban communities by providing decent) housing and a suitable living environment, and
expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Diamond bar receives an allocation of Federal Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to further the attainment of these goals; and
WHEREAS, unexpended or obligated funds from the prior year can be allocated
into the current program, and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission (CDC)
has confirmed that $15,000 remains available from the previous year's program, and
WHEREAS, the removal of materials and architectural barriers that restrict the
mobility for elderly or handicapped persons to public facilities meets the CDBG eligibility
criteria for project funding; and
WHEREAS, the installation of sliding doors will provide improved access to the
disabled in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Diamond
Bar as follows:
Section 1. The funding allocation for the 2005-2006 Program Year shall be
increased to include CDBG funding in the !amount of $15,000 for the City Hall — ADA Doors
Project.
Section 2. That the City Manager or her designee is authorized to execute the
contractual and related documents to ibe prepared by the County of Los Angeles
Community Development Commission that are required for the implementation of the
project set forth herein.
Section 3. This Resolution shall t6ke effect from and after the date of its passage
and adoption.
