A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAR
AMENDING THE CITY'S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(CDBG) PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006-2007 TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
FUNDING FOR THE HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (HIP)
WHEREAS, on August 22, 1974, the President of the United States signed into law the
Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (Act); and
WHEREAS, the primary goals of Title 1 of the Act are the development of viable urban
communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and expanding economic
opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income; and
WHEREAS, the City of Diamond Bar receives an allocation of Federal Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to further the attainment of these goals; and
WHEREAS, the general exterior improvements to single-family owner -occupied dwelling units
and home improvements to mitigate building, zoning, health, and safety code deficiencies and/or
violations meet the CDBG eligibility criteria for project funding; and
WHEREAS, the Home Improvement Program provides grants and deferred loans to low and
moderate income homeowners for the necessary improvements and repairs; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Diamond Bar as
follows:
Section 1. The funding allocation for the 2006-2007 Program Year shall be amended to
provide an additional $150,000 in CDBG funding for the Home Improvement Program increasing the
total HIP budget to $266,197.
Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to execute the contractual and
related documents to be prepared by the County of Los Angeles Community Development
Commission that are required for the implementation of the project set forth herein.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage and
adoption.
