Alarms may be solely battery operated where repairs or alterations do not result in the removal of wail and ceiling finishes car there is no access by means of attic, basement or crawl space. Starting July 1, 2014 all smoke alarms including combination smoke alarms, that are solely battery powered shall contain a non -replaceable, non4emovable battery that is capable of powering the smoke alarm for at least 10 years.
